This three-session introductory class for adults on the Jewish prayer book will explore one of the most important Jewish books ever created. We’ll cover basic terminology, the structure and intended journey of the daily service, the changes made for Shabbat, and how we can derive personal meaning from and connection with our most central prayers. No Hebrew language knowledge is required.
Session 1 - October 30: An overview of the siddur's structure: What is prayer and why do we pray?
Session 2 - November 6: Our central statement of faith: The Shema and its Blessings
Session 3 - November 13: HaTefilah, "The Prayer": Exploring the Amidah
