Amy horowitz

Amy Horowitz is the recent Past-President of the Board of Bet Torah and is the current chair of the Nominating Committee. She has served on the Bet Torah Board in the roles of Recording Secretary, Chair of the Board of Education and Executive Vice President. She is also a board member of the Bet Torah Foundation.

When she isn’t spending time on Bet Torah efforts, Amy also cares about supporting the Mount Kisco Interfaith Food Pantry, Neighbor’s Link, ReSET Westchester, and the American Cancer Society’s Dance Against Cancer.

She joined Bet Torah with her family in 2009. She lives in Chappaqua with her 15 year old son Alex, 18 year old daughter Marley and 3 year old dog Rory.

Amy is very excited to be sharing the “Gala spotlight” with her good friend Neil.

Neil Klar

Neil joined Bet Torah with his wife Eileen z”l in August, 2010. The Klars immersed themselves in the Bet Torah community starting when Eileen became Bat Mitzvah in 2013. They joined the 2016 family trip to Israel and Neil celebrated his 2nd Bar Mitzvah in 2018. Neil again went on the 2022 family trip to Israel (this time with his “kids”, Jon and daughter-in-law May), where he read Torah in Jerusalem. Eileen Klar passed away in 2022, and the Klar Family once again felt the embrace of the larger Bet Torah Community. Eileen’s smile and warmth is not only remembered by Bet Torah family and friends, but is also commemorated in the Bet Torah Foundation as the Eileen Klar Fund.

Neil was asked to join the Board of Directors as VP/Development, a portfolio that includes the synagogue’s High Holy Day Annual Appeal, Annual Galas, and also the newly introduced Bet Torah Foundation (BTF). Neil has found serving as the first President of the BTF to be especially gratifying. In addition, he works closely with the devoted chairs of the HHD Annual Appeal and the Gala every year.

Outside of Bet Torah, Neil served 10 years on the board of the Alzheimer’s Association (Hudson Valley Chapter), with two of those as Board Chair. He now serves on the board of ReSET Westchester as co-chair of Development.

Neil lives in Mount Kisco and has two sons, Dan and Jon who are married to Dina and May respectively. He loves being “grandpa” to his grandchildren Olivia and Joshua.
